Vehemently perturbed by the alleged endless attack on Kuki villages and civilians in area bordering Imphal valley by Meitei militants led by proscribed VBIG/VBUGS (Valley Based Insurgency Groups/Valley Based Underground Groups), the Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex body of the Kuki tribes says that Peace is doomed to be elusive as long as Biren Singh is at the helm of the affairs of the state.
KIM alleged that N. Biren Singh is a "Double standard Personality" who preach peace on one hand and encourage his people to attack the Kukis at the peripheral areas or elsewhere on the other hand.
KIM also wondered that how can we [the Kukis] expected fair dealings or fairness from a man who engineered their doom as a people as it alleged that N. Biren Singh spat venoms at Kukis and Soo groups by terming them 'terrorists' while never uttering a word against those outlawed VBIGS whose lead role in the attack on Kuki civilians is widely known by all.
"Such is the height of his partiality and pro-Meitei attitude", it alleged.
KIM General Secretary, Kaikhohauh Gangte said that side by side with the situation is improving rhetoric by people at the helm of affairs, Kuki villages in Kangvai area in Churachandpur district came under constant attacks from the Meitei militants since a couple of days back claiming the lives of three villagers.
He also said that KIM cannot comprehend the logic behind making N. Biren Singh as the head of the Unified Command even when he had lost all confidence and trust.
"A person who orchestrated the ethnic cleansing pogrom against the Kukis being appointed as the head of the Unified Command defeats all purposes and renders it meaningless", asserted Gangte.
He continued that there will be no respite and peace is doomed to be elusive as long as Biren Singh is at the helm of the affairs of the State and there is little wonder when Kukis came under siege from outlawed Meitei insurgents, and operations are conducted in Kuki areas where arms from village volunteers are seized by the security forces under the command of N. Biren Singh.
He then alleged that not only had he [N.Biren Singh] masterminded the genocidal killings against the Kukis, he incited a hate campaign against the Kukis and is still using provocative and incendiary comments against the Kukis via social media platforms.
As such, Biren Singh should not be allowed in any manner to remain at the helm of affairs if all concerned are serious about peace to be restored, he added.
He further said that it must also be noted with concern that Biren's leadership is a nuisance, havoc and a total failure.
He also urged the Government of India to take notice of the stated views of the public and remove N. Biren Singh from the Unified Command in order to bring trust and confidence, besides, Biren's nexus with secessionist elements merits a thorough probe.
He also said that the Kuki Inpi Manipur would not extend any form of cooperation to the Unified Command and would be compelled to construe that N. Biren Singh is allowed free hands to annihilate the Kukis unless he is removed as the in-charge or even from a member of the Unified Command.
