PM advisor Tarun Kapoor visits Moreh

Tarun Kapoor, Advisor to the Prime Minister of India visited Moreh - India's last border town on April 14. He was on spot assessment of Imphal - Moreh road project and other projects of DoNER and also site visit to Border village near Moreh.

Tarun Kapoor met all the stakeholders of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) Moreh which is located at the India-Myanmar border. Extending warm welcome to Tarun Kapoor, the ICP Manager T Baite presented a Traditional Shawl and LPAI's Plaque.

Kapoor - who was known as Modi's man during the covid pandemic, was on spot assessment of Imphal - Moreh road project and other projects undertaken by the ministry of Development of NorthEastern Region (DoNER) and also site visit to Border village near Moreh. He visit India - Myanmar border town Moreh in Manipur's Tengnoupal district after meeting with chief minister N Biren Singh at Imphal.

He met officials of NHIDCL (National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd), BRO ( Border Road Transport Organisation), Custom and, Immigration, BGF ( Border Guard Force) / AR and ICP (Integrated Check Post) Moreh.

Various issues related to Infrastructure development, India-Myanmar border Trade and border fencing were discussed in the meeting which was held at ICP conference hall. Highlighting the government's initiatives in addressing special developmental needs and well-being of the people living in border areas, DC Yumnam Ranjan said that D. Mounnaphai village under Moreh Block in Tengnoupal district has recently been converted in Model Village during the Financial Year 2016-17 under Border Area Development Program (BADP) with the funding of Rs.2.00 crore under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India through the State Planning Department.

While discussing about border trade in the Tamu-Moreh border, the DC Tengnoupal Ranjan Yumnam says that more items were imported from Myanmar than export. "Be it formal or informal trade, import items are more than export," Ranjan said. Expressing his concerns on import dependency, the former Petroleum Secretary stressed on the need for and the importance of self- reliance.

Tarun Kapoor was accompanied by Manipur chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnuam, IAS and other high ranking officials.

DC Tengnoupal Yumnam Ranjan, ADC Moreh, SP Tengnoupal B. Goulianmang, ADC Moreh, Addl SP (Ops), Addl SP (L&O), Senior immigration officer Y Anand, SP (LCS) Alimuddin Shah, Thangminlun Gangte (Inspector Custom), Dy. Commandant of 5 Assam Rifle (BGF) and other officials were also present in the meeting.
