The District Administration, Churachandpur celebrated the 74th Republic Day at Peace Ground, Tuibong today.Dharun Kumar S, Deputy Commissioner of the district unfurled the National Flag and took Rashtriya Salute as the Chief Guest from march past contingents comprising BSF, civil police, NCC cadets, school students and inmates of several relief camps.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner complimented the achievements and contributions of various departments and offices in the district. He stated that the district is housing the highest number of IDPs in 114 relief camps. The compassionate management of the relief camps has been crucial in instilling hope and resilience among the affected individuals and families, he added.He announced that a computer centre will be set up in the district which will start catering the needs of the children who wants to write examinations.
The DC also stated that the spirit of nationalism is not just an emotion; it is a responsibility, a duty that we owe to the countless souls who sacrificed, fought and help as many people as possible and make public understand the importance of the services and dedication shown in difficult times.
He asked the civil society organizations and the people of Churachandpur to provide their continued support to the District Administration in the journey towards a district that is not just developed but is compassionate, where every citizen feels valued and included. “Let us dedicate ourselves anew to the cause of progress, knowing that the road ahead may be challenging, but our collective strength will see us through” he stated.
Other highlights of the program included the distribution of commendations to 113 government officials and staff, 71 Police/ Security forces for their excellence in public service deliveries and 4 NGOs/ Organizations in recognition of their contribution towards the District Administration and societies. Awards and trophies were also presented to the winners and runner-ups of Republic Day Relief Camps (IDP) Sports Meet, 2024 held from the 22nd to 25th January, 2024.
Showcasing of cultural items by students of JNV, Kendriya Vidyalaya, soulful rendering of patriotic songs by Muan Hangzo, and Bamboo Dance from Hmar Youth Association (HYA) were other highlights of the event.
