Senior Journalist and Manipur Express Editor L. Chinkhanlian Passes Away at 64

His contributions to journalism have left an indelible mark on the media landscape of the hill districts.

L. Chinkhanlian, Senior Journalist and Editor of Manipur Express - an Independent daily newspaper published in Paite dialect from Lamka, passed away today at the age of 64 at his residence in PKT Street, Central Lamka, Churachandpur. He had been battling a prolonged illness.

A prominent figure in tribal journalism in Manipur, L. Chinkhanlian was the founder of 'Manipur Express', the first daily newspaper in the district, which began publication on May 30, 1981. The newspaper is one of the longest-serving publications in the state and has been a significant voice for the hill districts of Manipur.

He was also the founding President of the Manipur Hills Journalist Union (MHJU), an organization that serves as the apex body for media professionals from the hill districts. His contributions to journalism have left an indelible mark on the media landscape of the hill districts.

As condolences pour in from various quarters for his untimely demise, he will be remembered as a pioneer who paved the way for future generations of tribal journalists.
