The Zo-Reunification Organisation( ZoRO), General Headquarter, Aizawl, has said that the past two months in Manipur have shown clearly that the separation between the Meiteis and the Zo tribes-emotionally, socially and geographically is complete and final.

In regards to the killing of David Thiek(Hmar), ZoRO stated that the Zo people in Manipur do not want to share government with such barbaric and uncivilized people even in the 21st century.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the organisation stated that the inhumane and barbaric acts of Meiteis’ brutality in killing a Zo young man, David Thiek, and posting his severed head on the church fence and cutting his body into pieces could never be forgotten. The ethnic cleansing campaign against the Zo tribes in Manipur has been more than two months with no signs of resolution of the conflict in sight, it said.

“The fact that no preliminary steps could be taken to negotiate between the warring parties even after two months testifies to the level and extent of the animosity and incompatibility between the two,” ZoRO said.

ZoRO stated that the utterances and pronouncements made by Biren Singh and his ministerial and party colleagues, as well as Meitei society leaders, since the last two months have shown that they indeed do not want to live in peace with the Zo tribes but labelling them as "encroachers," "drug traffickers" and "illegal immigrants" who should be expelled from the land, or exterminated. The entire government machinery in Manipur, be it police or civil bureaucracy, wholly controlled by the Meiteis, have taken a totally and openly partisan role against the Zo tribes during the conflict which is still ongoing, it said.

ZoRO also said that Biren Singh's government remains firmly in place despite the manifest breakdown of law and order and all round demand for central rule in the state, and that Biren Singh still receives the full support of the Meitei people as their protector and hero, which showed that there is absolutely no hope for justice for the Zo tribes within the state of Manipur. .

It reiterated that in such moments of hardships and adversity, ZoRO stands in solidarity and gives full support to the Zo tribes in Manipur in their struggle for survival in the face of naked ethnic aggression, and their demand to the Government of India for total political separation from Manipur.

ZoRO expressed confidence that  Zo people all over the world would continue their support for the struggle of Zo tribes in the present Manipur state, and also expressed its appreciation for the same.
