The Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Singngat has achieved a landmark moment by winning the prestigious Kayakalp Award for the state this year. Recognized for setting the highest standards in sanitation, hygiene, and biomedical waste management, this accolade is a first for the Singngat PHC since it became operational.
The Kayakalp Awards, introduced in 2015, aim to promote cleanliness and infection control practices among public health facilities across the country. The awards encourage healthcare centers to uphold their commitment to hygiene, thereby ensuring a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Medical Officer-in-Charge, Dr. Steve M Tungnung, expressed his elation upon hearing the news, stating, "Finally, the sincere efforts and hard work put in by our dedicated staff of PHC Singngat have been recognized." The recognition underscores the collective dedication of the healthcare workers in enhancing the facility's standards.
Additionally, commendations were awarded to PHCs in Saikot and Behiang for their noteworthy efforts. Among the Primary Health Sub-Centres (PHSCs) in the district, the Mission Compound PHSC was honored with the Kayakalp Award, further emphasizing its outstanding cleanliness and hygiene initiatives. Moreover, the Churachandpur District Hospital earned the title of Eco-Friendly Winner, spotlighting its commitment to sustainable healthcare practices.
