The State government of Manipur has asked the people not to encroach upon the properties of those who had fled because of the ongoing crisis in the State as this could aggravate the law and order situation.
Citing a September 25 Supreme Court order directing the Manipur government to ensure protection of the properties of the displaced persons as well as those which have been destroyed or burnt in the violence and prevent their encroachment, the Home Department Manipur issued an order on Tuesday, stating that it viewed with utmost sensitivity as any such incident may further ignite or aggravate the law and order situation in the state.
The government has warned that anybody found violating the order shall be booked under relevant provision of law of the land for the time being in forced and shall be liable for contempt of the Supreme Court of India.
The prohibitory order advised the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to take action and implement the Supreme Court's order.
The State Government also appealed to all concerned including public functionaries to comply with the Supreme Court order to avoid any Contempt proceedings.
