A Peace Convention organized by the ten opposition political parties on Friday resolved that the Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh, has to go and that he should be held responsible for the ongoing violence in the state.

The convention resolved that it strongly condemned the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for his total silence on Manipur turmoil as he has neither spoken a single word on the situation in Manipur nor appealed for peace and restoration of normalcy in the state even in the last 65 days.

Aam Aadmi Party(AAP), All India Forward Bloc(AIFB), All India Trinamool Congress(AITC) AAP, Communist Party of India( CPI), Communist Party of India(M), Indian National Congress ( INC), Janata Dal(U), Nationalist Congress Party( NCP), RSP, SS(UBT) today held a peace convention at Congress Bhavan, Imphal.

The convention resolved that the need of the hour is to restore peace and normalcy, and bridge the unprecedented divide between the two warring communities and heal the wounds of the people.

The peace convention expressed its sorrow, shock and concern at the loss of lives during  the period from May 3, 2023 till today, and also observed a two- minute silence as a mark of homage to those who had lost their valuable lives in the ongoing violence in Manipur.

The convention hoped that the parliamentary team of five Members of Parliament (MPs) of the left parties, who came to assess the situation in Manipur, to recommend, through Parliament, to the Government of India to take necessary action to restore normalcy, peace and tranquility in Manipur and to urgently resolve the ongoing violence in the state.

The Convention also wholeheartedly expressed gratitude to  Rahul Gandhi for his two-days visit to Manipur as a Peace Messenger.
