"Thank you Frontline Heroes," says people in Lamka; 100 days of Meitei atrocity against Kuki-Zo community highlighted

As the ongoing ethnic violence in the state of Manipur reached 100 days on Thursday, the denizens of Churachandpur district took to the streets to thank the frontline heroes who have sacrificed their lives in defense of the land and it's people.

The public rally, organized by the Joint Students' Body Lamka, also highlighted the "100 days of unabated Meitei Atrocity" against the Kuki-Zo community.

Frontline heroes or Village volunteers were led by the leaders of Joint Students' Body, Lamka, who took the streets of Churachandpur town from Public Ground, Hiangtam Lamka, via Chiengkonpang, D. Phailen, Bungmual, Dorcas Veng and moved towards Tiddim road from where they marched along the main road till the Wall of Remembrance Site at Tuibong. The frontline heroes were accompanied by the parents of Kuki-Zo Martys.

People from all walks of life formed human chain along the main road on both sides and applauded the frontline warriors as a show of their appreciation for the affords they have put in to safeguard the land.

The main programme was held at the "Wall of Remembrance Site" at Tuibong, near Peace Ground. The Joint Artistes' Association, Lamka, presented a choral tribute for the frontline heroes and the departed souls of Kuki-Zo martyrs.

In his keynote address, Nengzalian Tonsing, Convenor, Joint Students' Body Lamka, said the event was organised to thank all the frontline heroes who deserve the highest form of appreciation for the sacrifice they have made to protect the lands at borders from the enemy.

"Today, we have gathered here to pay our respect to them. If not for the sacrifice made by these people, we would have been wiped out during these 100 days of unabated atrocity by the Meiteis on us," he said, and appealed to all the prayer groups to continue upholding frontline warriors in their prayer.

Speaking on the topic- '100 days of God's guidance and protection,' Rev. Dr. J. Lamboi Haokip said: "Despite our enemy's superior munition, we are able to safeguard our borders only by the grace of God during these 100 days of continuous violence being unleashed upon on us." He also highlighted some of the points where God's guidance and protection was witnessed during those 100 days crisis, and appealed the youths, who are the future of the society, to design the future of the society according to God's desire.

Highlighting some of the atrocity committed by the Meitei against the Kuki-Zo people, Dr. Haokip also highlighted the way forward to achieve the political aspirations of the people.

The programme was also marked by short speeches from the Martyrs' family members and Frontline Heroes.
