The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) on Wednesday has strongly reacted against the statement of the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, who had said that the violence in Manipur was not a law and order issue but a mix of issues.
ITLF made it clarified that the violence in State is clearly a result of lawlessness.
The reaction came in response to the claims made by the Chief Minister during an interview with the NorthEastlive on Tuesday.
In a video release by ITLF on Wednesday, a leader of the ITLF media cell said, “The violence in the State is a result of lawlessness, total failure of his (N. Biren Singh) government due to which ethnic cleansing and genocide is carried out by the Meiteis on Kuki-Zo.”
Also reacting to the Chief Minister’s call for peace, the ITLF leader also said there have been so many killings, burning of houses and so many properties damaged and it is too late to talk about peace. She reiterated thag the next step now is to talk about the demand for total separation, which is the only solution.
In contrary to the statement of the Chief Minister sending relief materials for the hills and valleys, the ITLF leader said that the tribals are not aware of such relief materials being sent by the government.
In his interview with Northeast live on Tuesday, Biren Singh had said that the supply of relief materials on the part of the state government has been sent to hills and valley areas and are going well.
The state government stated that it had already issued 3000 bags of rice, around 700 bags of daal, edible oil and mosquito nets for the 107 relief camps identified by the state government in Churachandpur.
It is worth mentioning that the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, RK Ranjan, had told the media that the law and order condition in Manipur was a total failure. The union minister made the statement while speaking to the media after his residence at Kongba Ucheckon, Imphal was set on fire on the night of June 15.
