The Media Cell of Dr. Alyson Abonmai, an intending candidate for the 18th Lok Sabha in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency has stated that a Toyota Fortuner vehicle belonging to the intending candidate was forcibly seized by unknown armed miscreants on February 29 near Manipur University.
In a statement, the Media Cell said, “In a shocking act of aggression, a Toyota Fortuner belonging to Dr. Alyson Abonmai was forcibly seized by unknown armed miscreants near MU”, claiming that the driver endured the brazen attack at gunpoint, resulting in disruption and distress amidst the pivotal phase of the crucial time. “The incident not only jeopardizes the safety and security of those involved but also undermines the democratic process and its fundamental principles of fairness and freedom,” it stated.

The Media Cell further stated that Alyson Abonmai, recipient of the prestigious “Best Social Reformer of the Year” award and a tireless advocate for the welfare of the people, has remained resolute in his dedication to serving the community since 2019, particularly amidst the challenges posed by the Covid19. The disruption of the official work, aimed at amplifying the voices of the people and advocating for their interests, is not only regrettable but also appears to be politically motivated and executed with malicious intent, it said.
At this crucial juncture, Dr. Alyson Abonmai called upon the citizens of Manipur to stand united against such acts of aggression. The intending candidate also extends his appreciation to the police personnel and government officials for taking the case to their best possible capacities.
Alyson also urged all individuals and citizens of the state to pray for wisdom to prevail during the democratic process and wished for ensuring choosing of the right candidate.
