The State Government of Manipur has responded decisively to a closure notice issued by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) in Churachandpur.
Expressing serious concern over the closure notice, the government emphasized the need to uphold the integrity of government institutions and establishments, especially amidst ongoing relief efforts in various districts. Numerous relief camps are currently operational, providing assistance to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, pregnant and lactating mothers, and persons with disabilities.

Preparations for upcoming examinations, including those conducted by the CBSE Board and State Boards from February 27, 2024, are also underway. In response, the Governor of Manipur has issued orders prohibiting any attempts to enforce the illegal closure notice. Strict measures, including the implementation of a 'No work, No pay' policy, have been mandated for employees failing to report to duty without authorized leave.
Additionally, all Central and State Government authorities, as well as management bodies of institutions and autonomous bodies, have been advised to ensure strict attendance of staff and students. District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been instructed to take necessary actions to enforce the orders and address any grievances raised by citizens within their respective districts.
The government's proactive measures aim to maintain essential services and uphold law and order in the face of the unauthorized closure notice. Citizens are urged to comply with lawful directives to avoid legal consequences.
Notably, despite the lapse of the 24-hour ultimatum issued by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF), no action has been taken to rescind the suspension of Head Constable Siamlalpaul or replace key officials in Lamka district, Manipur.
In response to the lack of compliance with their demands, the ITLF has declared a shutdown of all state government offices across Lamka district, effective from Monday, February 19, 2024, until further notice. Employees have been instructed to refrain from attending work during this period, with potential repercussions for those who do not adhere to the directive.
