Kuki-Zo declares ‘Way forward’ on Remembrance Day after Consultation meet

The Kuki-Zo people in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi District made a five-point “Way Forward” declaration during the 9th Remembrance Day after a lengthy consultation meeting today at Kangpokpi District Headquarters.

Thousands of Kuki-Zo people across Kangpokpi participated in the Public Consultation Meet cum 9th Remembrance Day observation organized under the aegis of the Committee on Tribal Unity, or the CoTU, Sadar Hills.

Apart from various prominent Kuki-Zo leaders and civil society organizations, Kuki-Zo MLAs, ex-MLAs, ex-Member of District Council, Sadar Hills Chiefs’ Association, or SAHILCA, the apex body of the Kuki chiefs, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Tribe Inpi, Church leaders, intellectuals, senior citizens, youth clubs, women’s leaders, and various area’s defence committee took part in the event.

Various important issues including the alleged breaching of ‘Buffer Zones’ by the warring community from the valley, war declaration upon the Kuki-Zo people, Free Movement Regime (FMR), and Separate Administration movement, among many others were deliberate at length during the consultation meeting.

The Sadar Hills Chiefs’ Association, or the SAHILCA, during the public consultation meeting, declared Nongthombam Biren Singh as Chief Minister of Meitei and no longer the Chief Minister of the entire Manipur.

The Sadar Hills Kuki chiefs’ apex body also declared N Biren Singh a militant and no longer a politician while the thousand crowd shouted in affirmation.

Conveying the five-point “Way Forward” declaration, CoTU’s Spokesperson Kaiminlen Sitlhou said that considering the unabated attacks on Kuki-Zo by the warring community from the valley by crossing the buffer zones, the public consultation meeting unanimously declared that a befitting response will begin against any aggression into the Kuki-Zo dominated areas crossing the buffer zones.

He said that the Kuki-Zo accepted the COCOMI, Leishemba Sanajaoba, and N. Biren Singh’s co-sponsor to declare war on the Kuki-Zo.

He also said that the public consultation meeting unanimously resolved to object border fencing on the region of Free Movement Regime (FMR) bordering erstwhile Manipur and Myanmar.

He further said that the Kuki-Zo across Kangpokpi also unanimously declared to sustain Separate Administration, i.e. Union Territory with legislature, movement under Article 3 of the Constitution of India and finally resolved to always endorse UPF and KNO political negotiations with the Centre Government.

Meanwhile, heavy vehicles were restricted along the highway during the public consultation meeting cum 9th Remembrance Day observation while all shops, and educational institutions were also closed for the day.
